Colvend Parish Church is very welcoming of visitors to share Sunday worship, and has a small but lively and friendly congregation.
There are historical attractions nearby at New Abbey, Whithorn, Dundrennan and at Caerlaverock, Lochmaben and Threave Castles.
For epicures, there is excellent local produce and we list some of these in our links opposite. There are also good inns and restaurants within walking distance of the house at Kippford and Clonyard.
Threave Gardens outside Castle Douglas boasts a school of gardening, and provides an attractive parkland setting for garden lovers. There are many other attractive gardens nearby well worth a visit, including Shambellie House in New Abbey.
For creature comforts, the Colvend Shop stocks all basic requirements; further afield, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Dumfries offer a wide range of shops.
The natural beauty of the countryside in this area makes it ideal for outdoor activities. There is a set of golf clubs in the house and guests may play for free (up to 4 adults per day) at the local Colvend Golf Club, by telephoning the Club to book the tee-off time.
